We have a collection of old and new photos of Newtown Square – but they have come to us in dribs and drabs, and the collection is spotty as to what is covered. Since the dawn of the digital age, we have been seeking out photographs of the people and places and events that have shaped modern day Newtown Square. The pictures exist in family collections, tucked away in old photo albums and boxes in attics. We are seeking contributions to our collection. We will scan them in a high quality fashion and return the originals to the owner in the same shape they were given to us, together with a set of the scans for you. Or, if the family no longer wants them, we will agree to accept the originals as well. That way, the photo is preserved, and backed up at several locations, and we get the chance to learn from the donor who is depicted in the photo, as opposed to wondering about the lives of the people who stare out at us from donated photos.
Our long term plan is to catalog and cross-index everything we have and make them searchable, so that history buffs, genealogists, and the curious may access our collection. We are always looking for volunteers to take the lead in this effort. So, if you have photos that you’d like to share with us, or would like to do some work on our collection, please contact us to talk about what you may wish to do.
